Children’s Sunday School

Children’s Sunday School meets from 9:40-10:40am. Each Sunday, children ages 4 through 6th grade are invited to attend our age graded Sunday school classes. They begin in the children’s common area with music and games, then break out into smaller age appropriate classrooms for the lesson and more activities.
When you arrive, visit our children’s welcome area to securely check in your child with our electronic system. All children through 6th grade must be checked out by an adult that has the check-in ticket.

Prime Time on Wednesdays

During the school year (September-May), we have Prime Time on Wednesday nights 6:00-7:00pm for kids. Children in Kindergarten through 6th grade participate in Children’s Choir and related activities that may include Hymns and M&Ms, musical and choral productions, mission activities, crafts and more.
Childcare is provided for preschool aged children during this time.

Club56

Throughout the year, our 5th and 6th grade students (Club56) get together for various activities, service projects, camps or lock-ins. These fun and meaningful activities give the children an idea of what to expect as the prepare to enter our youth fellowship.

Camp PhisherKidz

Many churches have a Vacation Bible School (VBS) program. We have Camp PhisherKidz! Phishing is a way of finding information about people. In Matthew 4:19, Jesus tells us that we are to be fishers of people; to tell others about Him. A PhisherKid is someone who is looking for other people to tell about Jesus. The Children’s Ministry of First Baptist Church is phishing for children so they will come to know Jesus and grow in a relationship with Him.

Camp PhisherKidz is a 4-day, full-day camp that features a VBS rotation and daily field trips. Each year we host 200+ children and have over 150 volunteers! Come check out why Camp PhisherKidz is so loved!

Preteen Camp

Every summer, we take 3rd through 6th graders to Preteen Camp! Our current location is Camp Tejas in Giddings, TX.  We partner with 6 or 7 other like-minded churches to provide a fun 3-night camp experience for about 200 campers! Preteen camp includes worship and Bible study as well as exciting camp activities like ziplining, lake recreation and organized mass chaos!

Preteen camp is not complete without a pool party, mud games and dance party, but it is also a camp where kids can begin or develop a Christ-centered life.

Baptisms

We believe that salvation is by grace through faith and that it is a free gift of God. Baptism is a way for a person to confess before the church family that they have invited Jesus to be the Lord of their life. If you believe your child is ready to make a profession of faith through baptism, contact our Children’s Minister, Melinda Hall, to make those arrangements. A Minister will speak with your child about the nature and purpose of baptism to be sure they are confidently ready to make this step.

Fall Festival

Rain or shine on October 31st, we host our annual Fall Festival from 5:30-8:00pm. This is one of our larger community events that includes carnival games, prizes, free snacks and a trunk-or-treat. Grab your family, dress in your best family-friendly costume and come for some family fun on October 31st!

Special Events

In addition to the above, our children’s ministry strives to provide fun family events as well as events that help children to grow in their faith. We are always thinking of new and innovative ways to teach your children about Jesus, to build community in fun ways, to get them involved in service, and to support your family as a whole. Check out our calendar for upcoming special events that may include:

  • Easter Fellowship Fun
  • 1st/2nd Grade lock-in
