What We Believe
First Baptist Church San Marcos is a community of people who strive to be loyal to Jesus and who seek to pattern their lives after biblical models of faithfulness. Through the links below you can read more specifically about our statements of faith, but it is fair to say that we are Jesus-centric, Bible-believing, family-valuing, and mission-focused. We invite and welcome all who wish to do so to participate with us in worship, in study, and in service.
We partner with others in our service worldwide. Our primary missions partner is the Baptist General Convention of Texas (aka Texas Baptists). We also support the Baptist World Alliance and numerous local and global missionary and service organizations.
Anyone is welcome to worship, study, and serve with us, even without official membership, but membership does allow for input in leading the congregation through committee responsibilities and participation in church conferences where business is decided by congregational voting. Membership is also a statement of commitment to one another in Christ that we will pray for, encourage, and support one another in the joys and challenges of life.
You can become a member of First Baptist Church in several ways:
1. Through making a first-time decision to follow Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and by confirming that decision through Believer’s Baptism;
2. By letter or transfer of membership from another church;
3. By a statement of faith in Jesus Christ.
If you have questions about the church, our beliefs, membership, or about how you can be involved, feel free to email the pastor at E-mail or call him at the office: 512-392-3377.
