Sunday Morning Bible Study

The largest of all our adult ministries happens on Sunday morning when we have our weekly Adult Bible Studies at 9:30 AM. These in depth Bible Studies vary from lecture classes to small group discussion classes. Some classes use video for their curriculum while others have teachers for class. The groups are divided into suggested age groups but no one is required to attend any particular class.

Week Day Bible Studies

In addition to the Sunday morning Bible studies at First Baptist Church, there are many community Bible studies that take place in different locations throughout San Marcos. Several homes as well as meeting rooms in some of the Senior Adult Apartment Complexes in the area serve as hosts for Bible study. Following are the schedules and locations:

Other Adult Ministries

Saints Alive
The ministry of First Baptist Church which focuses on Senior Adults 55 and above. They meet on the first Tuesday of every month in the Grand Foyer. In addition to a wonderful covered dish dinner (the church supplies the chicken) there is a special program. The fellowship is wonderful.

Senior Adult Retreat
The senior adults of First Baptist Church go on a three-day retreat to the Alto Frio Baptist Encampment in May. It’s a wonderful time of worship and each year a different speaker leads a Bible study at the retreat. Lots of games and outdoor activities as well as some wonderful meals make this a delightful time for our senior adults.

Senior Game Day
On Tuesday afternoons the senior adults gather in the Youth Room to play domino games such as forty-two, Mexican train and chicken foot. Once in a while there may even be a group playing bridge. Different folks bring light snacks and everyone who comes has fun from around 1–4 pm.

​Wednesday Night Seminars
On Wednesday evenings we have seminars for the adults. These range from parenting classes, video classes like Experiencing God or Beth Moore Bible Studies, Book Bible Studies, New Member Classes, Spiritual Growth Classes and much more. We offer these classes twice a year in the Spring and Fall.
